Dr Yip Cherng Hann Benjamin

Dr Benjamin Yip is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.

His main interest is in advanced endoscopy including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), SpyGlass cholangioscopy, deep enteroscopy and enteral dilation/stenting. He also regularly performs general endoscopies such as gastroscopy and colonoscopy (both diagnostic and therapeutic).

He was a gastroenterologist at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH).

He graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS). He completed his specialist training in general medicine and, thereafter, advanced specialist training in gastroenterology and hepatology at the National University Hospital. Dr Yip was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan award to subspecialise in advanced endoscopy at the Royal Free and University College Hospitals in London, UK. He received training in ERCP, EUS, SpyGlass cholangioscopy, deep enteroscopy and enteral dilation/stenting.

After returning to Singapore, Dr Yip started the cholangioscopy service at KTPH and was the only specialist doing both ERCP and EUS at NTFGH. He has been practising medicine for more than 15 years and has performed more than 6,000 endoscopies since 2010.

Dr Yip was awarded a scholarship to pursue the Master of Clinical Investigation degree course at NUS. In recognition of his dedication to patient care, he was awarded the Alexandra Health Service Champion Award. He is also a recipient of several Long Service Awards.
