Dr Samantha Yap is a rehabilitation physician at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore.
She specialises in general rehabilitation with a subspecialty interest in brain injury and neurological rehabilitation.
Prior to joining private practice, Dr Yap was a senior consultant in the department of rehabilitation medicine at Tan Tock Seng (TTSH) and a visiting consultant at Changi General Hospital and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
She is a member of the Royal College of Physicians, UK and a fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore.
While at TTSH, she developed the RANCHO guidelines for traumatic brain injury, as well as the agitation workflow and guidelines. She also co-edited the handbook of rehabilitation medicine. She has been practising medicine for more than 25 years.
Dr Yap held various teaching appointments. She was an adjunct assistant professor at Duke-NUS Medical School, clinical senior lecturer at the National University of Singapore’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, clinical teacher at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and clinical lecturer at Nanyang Polytechnic. She was also an examiner for the final-year medical examinations at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
She was involved in postgraduate training as a clinical core faculty member for the National Healthcare Group’s (NHG) rehabilitation medicine senior residency programme and was a site director for NHG and SingHealth’s geriatric medicine senior residency programme.
