Dr Tan Ken Jin is an orthopaedic surgeon practising at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. He subspecialises in foot and ankle disorders, and sports injuries.
Dr Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore. He subsequently underwent advanced orthopaedic surgical training in Singapore and was awarded the College of Surgeons Gold Medal.
Dr Tan received the Human Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) scholarship from the Ministry of Health, Singapore to undertake a fellowship training in foot and ankle reconstruction at the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus in Dresden, Germany under Dr Hans Zwipp. He also completed another fellowship at the Institute for Foot and Ankle Reconstruction at the Mercy Medical Centre in Maryland, USA with Dr Mark Myerson, a pioneer in foot and ankle surgery.
During his time at the National University Hospital (NUH), Dr Tan subspecialised in foot and ankle disorders. He was the programme director for foot and ankle surgery at NUH, where he set up the fellowship training program that has trained surgeons from the region in foot and ankle reconstruction. He is currently a member of the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS).
Dr Tan has been a visiting consultant at the Sports and Orthopaedic Clinic at the University Health Centre in NUS, where he has treated sports injuries among university students and staff.
Dr Tan has published more than 20 articles that focus on foot, ankle and knee conditions. His research interests include lower limb biomechanics, foot and ankle injuries, bone grafting and fusion biology.
