Experience

Dr Pipin Kojodjojo is a cardiologist practising at Mount Elizabeth Hospitals, Gleneagles Hospital and Parkway East Hospital, Singapore.

His clinical expertise include atrial fibrillation and heart rhythm disorders in adolescents and adults, implantation of cardiac devices such as pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators, catheter ablation of simple and complex arrhythmias, left atrial appendage occlusion for stroke prevention, pulmonary thrombectomy for acute pulmonary embolism and management of syncope and cardiac dysautonomias (a condition where the autonomic nervous system does not work properly).

He was a former director of cardiology at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH) and a senior consultant at the National University Heart Centre, Singapore.

Dr Kojodjojo graduated from St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospital Medical College, University of London and is a member of the Royal College of Physicians. He underwent training in cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology at St Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College London, UK and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA. He was awarded a PhD for his novel research on human atrial fibrillation by the Imperial College London. He was appointed senior lecturer and consultant at the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

During his appointment at NTFGH, he led or participated in committees that had oversight over areas such as telehealth, quality assurance, anticoagulation safety, collaborative prescribing and outpatient services. He created Asia’s first pulmonary embolism response team, syncope clinic and rapid access chest pain clinic (RACPC). The RACPC was recognised with an Excellence Award by the Asian Hospital Management Awards in 2020.

Dr Kojodjojo was also the earliest to use ultrasound-assisted thrombolysis and suction thrombectomy in Asia and was the earliest to perform ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation)-assisted VT ablation and septal radiofrequency ablation to reduce outflow tract gradients for inoperable hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. He has practised medicine for more than 20 years, and has performed more than 1,400 cardiac electronic implantable device implants and more than 1,100 cases of catheter ablation since 2012.

Besides his clinical work, he was the associate professor at the department of medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He is accredited by the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners as a clinical cardiac devices specialist. He is active in clinical research with mentees winning Young Investigator Awards at international conferences.

He is recognised as a fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society, American College of Cardiology and European Society of Cardiology. Dr Kojodjojo has published more than 120 peer-reviewed articles. He jointly holds a patent for a proprietary bipolar radiofrequency ablation generator.
