Dr Chew Soo Ping is a general surgeon practising at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore. He specialises in the management of gall bladder, bile duct, liver and pancreas conditions. These include stomach cancer, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, bile duct cancer, gall bladder cancer, colon cancer and small bowel tumours.
Dr Chew offers minimally invasive or keyhole surgery for conditions such as gallstones, hernia in the abdominal wall and inguinal (groin) hernia, appendix removal, adrenal gland removal and spleen removal.
Dr Chew obtained a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the National University of Singapore (NUS). He went on to train in general surgery and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK. He was awarded a scholarship from the Singapore Government to specialise in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, and liver transplantation at the Queensland Liver Transplant Service of the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Australia.
Dr Chew developed the Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery Service in Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), where he was appointed as the chief of the subspecialty service. He was also the deputy head of the Department of Surgery, chairman of the endoscopy committee and Endoscopy Centre, as well as a founding member of the Centre of Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery.
