Dr Kenneth Chan is a respiratory physician and intensivist at Gleneagles Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore.
In addition to general respiratory medicine, his subspecialty interests are intensive care and bronchoscopy. He also has a special interest in helping patients to stop smoking.
Dr Chan started the endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle biopsy service in Parkway Hospitals. He also started the extracorporeal life support service in the medical intensive care unit at Singapore General Hospital (SGH). He has practised medicine for more the 25 years.
He completed his advanced specialty training in respiratory medicine at SGH in 2002 and a clinical fellowship in critical care medicine at the University of Toronto, Canada in 2005. He has also undergone a fellowship at the world-renowned Thoraxklinik at Heidelberg, Germany under Prof Felix Herth, where he further honed his skills and knowledge in bronchoscopic procedures such as endobronchial ultrasound and bronchial thermoplasty for asthma.
In 2012, he was the scientific chair for the World Congress on Tobacco and Health. He was the president of both the Singapore Thoracic Society and the Society of Intensive Care Medicine, Singapore, and is the current vice-chair of the Chapter of Intensivists at the Academy of Medicine. In 2010, he received the Excellent Service Award (STAR).
